Sustainability & ethics

We believe renovating well and renovating responsibly go together. Here's how we reduce the impact of our work and look after the people we work with.

Renovation has a real environmental footprint β€” in materials, transport, waste and energy. We don't pretend otherwise. What we do is take genuine, measurable steps to reduce that impact, and run the business in a way we're proud of.

Verified carbon offsets

We purchase verified carbon offset credits in proportion to what we invest in renovations β€” offsetting two tonnes of COβ‚‚e for every $10,000 of project spend, through an independently verified scheme. To be clear and honest about what that means: this offsets a portion of the emissions associated with our work; it doesn't make a renovation carbon-neutral. But it is a real, trackable commitment backed by genuine credits β€” not a marketing slogan.

Ethics: how we work

Doing right by the planet and doing right by people come from the same place. That's why we give honest advice β€” including when not to spend β€” provide transparent, itemised quotes with no hidden costs, and treat every home and every client with care. We'd rather earn trust than win a quick job.

Questions, answered honestly

Frequently asked questions

Does Your Property Profits offset its carbon emissions?
Yes β€” we purchase verified carbon offset credits in proportion to our renovation spend, offsetting a portion of the emissions associated with our projects through an independently verified scheme. It's a genuine, measurable commitment rather than a vague claim.
What sustainable practices do you use in renovations?
Where it suits the project we prioritise energy-efficient upgrades such as double glazing, insulation and efficient lighting, reduce and recycle waste on site, and choose durable, responsibly-sourced materials.
Do energy-efficient upgrades add value when selling?
They can β€” Canberra's climate makes thermal comfort and lower running costs genuinely valuable, and more buyers now look for features like double glazing. We'll advise whether they're worthwhile for your home and goal.
